Walter Tigers has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Braunschweig (2-4) 93-76 on Friday. The game without a history. Walter Tigers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Walter Tigers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was Russian center Anatoly Kashirov (215-87) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Canadian guard Nicholas Wiggins (198-91, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 17 points. Walter Tigers' coach Igor Perovic used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Trent Lockett (196-90, college: Marquette) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import center Kyle Visser (211-85, college: Wake Forest) added 14 points respectively. Walter Tigers (1-5) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Braunschweig dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with TBB Trier and Goettingen. Walter Tigers will meet league's second-placed Bayern Muenchen on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Braunschweig will play against EWE Baskets (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
