Regular Season Round 5: Neuss - Hagen Phoenix 81-56

No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked TG Neuss (3-2) smashed at home 10th ranked Hagen Phoenix (1-4) 81-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. TG Neuss led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Hagen Phoenix to just 7 points in fourth quarter. TG Neuss forced 23 Hagen Phoenix turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. TG Neuss looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Hagen Phoenix's players. The best player for the winners was swingman Franziska Worthmann (177-86, college: Robert Morris) who scored 25 points. point guard Hannah Wischnitzki (170) chipped in 3 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Kathrin Schlatt (174-91) produced 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) added 14 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TG Neuss moved-up to fifth place in North, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Hagen Phoenix dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. TG Neuss will face Zehlendorf (#12) in Berlin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hagen Phoenix will play at home against the league's leader Braunschweig and hope to win that game.
