Regular Season Round 5: Braunschweig - Barmer TV 80-75

Round 5 in 2.Bundesliga means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Braunschweig where host Braunschweig (4-1) beat league's leader Barmer TV (4-1) 80-75 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Barmer TV. It was a key game for the top position in North. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 22-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Braunschweig forced 25 Barmer TV turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Sade Jackson (177, college: Adelphi) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. Her fellow American import center Brittany Obi-Tabot (185, college: Fairfield) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. Guard Wiebke Bruns (178-90, college: Houston Baptist) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Franziska Goessmann (170-89) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Braunschweig keeps a position of North leader, which they share with Osnabruck and Barmer TV. Barmer TV will play next round against strong Osnabruck trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Braunschweig will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Hagen Phoenix on the road.
