Regular Season Round 6: Crailsheim - TBB Trier 100-84

Crailsheim Merlins has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked TBB Trier (2-4) 100-84. The game was mostly controlled by Crailsheim Merlins. TBB Trier was better in fourth quarter 29-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded TBB Trier 33-18 including 21 on the defensive glass. Crailsheim Merlins players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. TBB Trier was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Jannik Freese (211-86, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 23 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American point guard Garrett Sim (185-90, college: Oregon) supported him with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Crailsheim Merlins' coach Willie Young allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 15 points and 5 rebounds by Jamaican-Canadian forward Jermaine Bucknor (201-83, college: Richmond) did not help to save the game for TBB Trier. Serbian Marko Lukovic (207-92, agency: Beo Basket) added 14 points. Crailsheim Merlins (1-5) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. TBB Trier at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with Braunschweig and Goettingen. Crailsheim Merlins will play against higher ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#10) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. TBB Trier will play against the league's leader ALBA Berlin where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
