Regular Season Round 8: Zanavykas - JAZZ-Diremta 99-62

Bottom-ranked JAZZ-Diremta (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-62 loss to tenth ranked Zanavykas (4-4) in Sakiai on Saturday evening. The game without a history. Zanavykas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to JAZZ-Diremta's 48. They outrebounded JAZZ-Diremta 36-19 including 25 on the defensive glass. JAZZ-Diremta was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Simas Raupys (195-94) who scored 19 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Guard Justas Nausedas (190-92) chipped in 13 points. Four Zanavykas players scored in double figures. Forward Gintautas Kybartas (203-94) produced 17 points and 4 steals and guard Arminas Kelmelis (195-94) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. JAZZ-Diremta's coach Rolandas Urkis gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Zanavykas moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser JAZZ-Diremta still closes the standings with eight games lost. Zanavykas will face Trakai (#10) at home in the next round. JAZZ-Diremta will play against Nafta-Uni. in Klaipeda and hopes to get finally their first victory.
