Regular Season Round 4: Boa Viagem - Alges 74-57

There was a minor upset in Angra Heroismo where 6th ranked Alges (2-2) were defeated by eighth ranked Boa Viagem (2-2) 74-57 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 18-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 74-57. Boa Viagem outrebounded Alges 50-33 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Myneshia McKenzie (183, college: Rider) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 19 rebounds and center Vitoria Pacheco (179-92) who added 14 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Four Boa Viagem players scored in double figures. At the losing side international Dora Duarte (174-86) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Chelsea Guimaraes (189-97) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Alges' coach Alberto Saraiva gave the chance to play for ten players seeing no chance for a win. Boa Viagem moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Alges. Boa Viagem will face Academico FC (#9) in Porto in the next round where they are favorite. Alges will play at home against GDESSA (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
