Regular Season Round 7: Timisoara - Rapid 90-63

Rather expected game when 12th ranked Rapid (1-6) was crushed on the road by ninth ranked Timisoara (3-4) 90-63. The game was mostly controlled by Timisoara. Rapid was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Timisoara forced 22 Rapid turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Timisoara brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. Serbian center Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Timisoara had such big advantage that coach felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Ana Cuatu (178-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and forward Alexandra Vlaicu (178-91) added 16 points in the effort for Rapid. Timisoara maintains ninth place with 3-4 record. Rapid lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with six games lost. Timisoara's next round opponent will be higher ranked Targu Mures (#7) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rapid will play against ICIM Arad (#5) and hope to win that game.
