Regular Season Round 4: Meliksah - Afyon 95-91 OT

Bottom-ranked Afyon is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to ninth ranked Meliksah (3-1) 95-91. Afyon was ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 24-15 charge of Meliksah, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 13-9. Meliksah players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Leemire Goldwire (182-85, college: Charlotte, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: David Lee services) who added 23 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Meliksah's coach Murat Askin allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side American power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks and Greek forward Christos Tapoutos (203-82) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Meliksah and four Afyon players scored in double figures. Meliksah moved-up to second place, which they share with 6 other teams. Afyon at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Mamak DSI. Meliksah will play against league's second-placed Socar Petkim on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Afyon will play against Pertevniyal and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
