Regular Season Round 4: Gelisim - Gediz 62-57

Everything could happen in Izmir at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Gelisim and 10th ranked Gediz had identical 2-1 record. This time Gelisim used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Gediz 62-57 on Wednesday night. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Gelisim outrebounded Gediz 51-32 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American point guard Derek Williams (185-85, college: SMU) who scored that evening 27 points and the other American import center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) supported him with 8 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks. Gelisim's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds by forward Emre Ozpulat (200-82) did not help to save the game for Gediz. American point guard Adonte Parker (183-89, college: Dayton) added 22 points for lost side. Gelisim (3-1) moved-up to second place, which they share with 6 other teams. Newly promoted Gediz dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. They share it with Adanaspor and Final Genclik. Gelisim will meet Denizli in the next round where they are favorite. Gediz will play against the league's leader Sakarya BSB and hope to secure a win.
