Regular Season Round 6: Cherkasy - Ferro-ZNTU 77-72

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cherkasy. Second ranked Cherkasy faced one of their biggest challengers Ferro-ZNTU. Host Cherkasy (4-1) defeated guests from Zaporozhye (3-2) 77-72. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-19. But Ferro-ZNTU won second period 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American point guard Cameron Rundles (185-88, college: Wofford) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. British power forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: Loyola Mary) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson used entire bench in such tough game. Forward Maks Adam Konate (200-91) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and forward Yakov Zmitrovich (200-84) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Ferro-ZNTU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cherkasy have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader Khimik. Ferro-ZNTU at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Cherkasy will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferro-ZNTU will play on the road in Mykolaiv and hopes to get back on the winning track.
