Regular Season Round 7: Herner - Wasserburg 65-67

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Herner TC (6-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by TSV 1880 Wasserburg (7-0) 67-65. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Herner TC. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 6-0 record before this meeting. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Herner TC won third quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when TSV 1880 Wasserburg won last quarter 14-13. They made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. At the losing side international swingman Ireti Amojo (177-90, college: Washington St.) responded with 15 points and American point guard Quenese Davis (177-88, college: San Diego St.) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. TSV 1880 Wasserburg have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Herner TC at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. TSV 1880 Wasserburg are looking forward to face Oberhausen (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Herner TC will play against Bad Aibling (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
