Important game to mention about took place in Petkim. Second ranked Socar Petkim (4-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Meliksah (3-2) 78-75 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Meliksah was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Socar Petkim made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Meliksah turnovers and outrebounded them 46-32 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) accounted for 20 points and 12 rebounds. Osby is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Leemire Goldwire (182-85, college: Charlotte, agency: Two Points) came up with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center LaRon Dendy (205-88, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: David Lee services) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Meliksah in the defeat. Four Meliksah players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Socar Petkim keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Meliksah at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Gediz and Gelisim. Socar Petkim will play against bottom-ranked Pertevniyal (#18) in Istanbul in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Meliksah will play at home against Mamak DSI (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
