Regular Season Round 6: Zehlendorf - Neuss 45-91

Bottom-ranked Zehlendorf is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to eighth ranked TG Neuss (4-2) 91-45 on Saturday evening. The game without a history. TG Neuss led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Zehlendorf to just 6 points in fourth quarter. TG Neuss held Zehlendorf to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.2 percent accuracy of the winners. TG Neuss forced 23 Zehlendorf turnovers and outrebounded them 45-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American power forward Elizabeth Horton (185, college: Valparaiso) who led her team to a victory with 21 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). The other American import guard Marquita Waller (180-88, college: VCU) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five TG Neuss players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TG Neuss will face Braunschweig (#4) at home in the next round. Zehlendorf will play against Baskets Grunberg (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
