Regular Season Round 9: Gmunden - Furstenfeld 71-70

Tenth-ranked Furstenfeld Panthers (0-8) were very close to win a game against first ranked Gmunden Swans (7-2) on Sunday. Gmunden Swans managed to secure only one-point victory 71-70. However their fans expected much easier game. Furstenfeld Panthers were trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 18-11 charge of Gmunden Swans, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Furstenfeld Panthers turnovers. Strangely Furstenfeld Panthers outrebounded Gmunden Swans 36-22 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for international forward Enis Murati (194-88) who saved his team from a defeat with 15 points and 4 assists. American point guard Dorian Green (188-91, college: Colorado St.) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. Forward Toni Blazan (195-92) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Chris Lowe (182-87, college: Massachusetts, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 17 points and 4 steals in the effort for Furstenfeld Panthers. Gmunden Swans maintains first place with 7-2 record. Furstenfeld Panthers at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Gmunden Swans are looking forward to face Arkadia Lions (#4) in Traiskirchen in the next round. Furstenfeld Panthers will play on the road against Zepter Vienna (#3) in Wien and hope to get finally their first victory.
