Regular Season Round 6: Heidelberg - Trier 82-42

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked BasCats Heidelberg (6-0) outplayed at home bottom-ranked Trier (0-6) 82-42 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by BasCats Heidelberg. Trier was better in fourth quarter 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Trier to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters. BasCats Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Trier's 32. BasCats Heidelberg forced 20 Trier turnovers and outrebounded them 62-26 including a 36-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American center Erica Carlson (193-88, college: Dixie St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists. point guard Sara Kranzhofer (172-96) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four BasCats Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Guard Jana Genttner (173) replied with 10 points and point guard Denise Thieltges (162) added 7 points in the effort for Trier. Trier's coach Michael Edringer gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. BasCats Heidelberg have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of South leader, which they share with Keltern and Bamberg. Newly promoted Trier still closes the standings with six games lost. BasCats Heidelberg will face Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Trier will play against Rhein MB II (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
