Regular Season Round 7: Telekom Bsk - Bayreuth 77-59

We should mention about the upset which took place in Bonn, where 7th ranked BBC Bayreuth (3-4) lost to tenth ranked Telekom Baskets (4-3) in a road game 59-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BBC Bayreuth. BBC Bayreuth was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 45-23 second half run of Telekom Baskets. They made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Lithuanian forward Tadas Klimavicius (204-82) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Richard McConnell (189-89, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Telekom Baskets players scored in double figures. Telekom Baskets' coach Matthias Fischer allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Phillipp Heyden (206-88) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) added 13 points in the effort for BBC Bayreuth. The victory was the third consecutive win for Telekom Baskets. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Bremerhaven. BBC Bayreuth at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. They share it with Ratiopharm. Telekom Baskets will play against higher ranked Brose Baskets (#3) in Bamberg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BBC Bayreuth will play at home against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
