Regular Season Round 2: Lusitania - Barcelos 77-79

A very close game took place in Angra between Barcelos and Lusitania. Barcelos (2-0) got a very close victory on the road over Lusitania (0-2). Barcelos managed to escape with a 2-point win 79-77 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Lusitania was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Lusitania outrebounded Barcelos 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Rui Coelho (191-89) chipped in 22 points. American center Blake Poole (196-88, college: St.Martin's) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and forward Mohamed Camara (196-83) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Barcelos will meet at home Sampaense in the next round where they are favorite. Lusitania will play against Ovarense and hope to win that game.
