Regular Season Round 7: DniproAzot - Budivelnyk 48-81

The game in Dniprodzerzhynsk supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Budivelnyk (4-2) played at the court of 8th ranked DniproAzot (1-5). Budivelnyk smashed DniproAzot 81-48. The game was mostly controlled by Budivelnyk. DniproAzot was better in fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding DniproAzot to just 7 points in second quarter. Budivelnyk dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to DniproAzot's 20. Budivelnyk forced 21 DniproAzot turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 32 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by DniproAzot's players. Budivelnyk brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was a great evening for international Maksym Pustozvonov (200-87, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Denys Lukashov (190-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) helped adding 2 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. At the losing side forward Vladyslav Kondratyev (203-90, college: Bryant) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and guard Stanislav Ovdeyenko (191-84) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Budivelnyk. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Mykolaiv and Dnipro. DniproAzot at the other side dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with BC Kyiv. Budivelnyk will play against league's second-placed Cherkasy on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. DniproAzot will have a break next round.
