Regular Season Round 4: Balkan - Levski Sofia 78-79

The biggest surprise of round 4 in NBL was guest Levski Sofia's (3-1) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Balkan (2-2) 79-78 on Monday evening. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Balkan won fourth quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International Pavel Ivanov (200-88, agency: Interperformances) fired 22 points for the winners. International Hristo Zahariev (199-90) chipped in 19 points and 5 steals. Levski Sofia's coach Konstantin Papazov used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International Ivan Lilov (196-88) produced 29 points and 5 rebounds and the former international Pavel Marinov (199-88, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Balkan at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Beroe. Levski Sofia are looking forward to face Rilski (#4) in Samokov in the next round. Balkan will play on the road against Chernomorets in Burgas and is hoping to win this game.
