Regular Season Round 8: Cluj Napoca - Galati 63-86

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Cluj Napoca (2-6) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Galati (6-2) 86-63. Galati forced 21 Cluj Napoca turnovers and outrebounded them 50-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. American forward Chelsey Lee (188-89, college: Rutgers) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds. The other American import forward Trudy Armstead (185-91, college: Northwestern St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five Galati players scored in double figures. Swiss forward Annie Kassongo (188-87, college: S.Nazarene, agency: Gamble Sports Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Amber Jones (170-91, college: UAB) added 11 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galati moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Cluj Napoca at the other side keeps the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Satu Mare. Galati will play against league's second-placed CSM Targoviste at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cluj Napoca will play against Brasov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
