Regular Season Round 9: Sf.Gheorghe - Alba Iulia 74-77

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Liga Nationala took place in Sfantu Gheorghe. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-best Sf.Gheorghe (7-2) to fourth ranked Alba Iulia (7-2) 77-74 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Sf.Gheorghe. It was a good game for Canadian power forward Wumi Agunbiade (188-92, college: Duquesne) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jessica Kuster (188-92, college: Rice) contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Alba Iulia players scored in double figures. American power forward Stefanie Murphy (192-89, college: Boston Coll.) answered with 30 points and 9 rebounds and international guard Annemarie Parau (170-84) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for Sf.Gheorghe. Alba Iulia moved-up to second place, which they share with Alexandria and Sf.Gheorghe. Alba Iulia is looking forward to face Satu Mare (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sf.Gheorghe will play against Cluj Napoca (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
