Regular Season Round 10: Wels - Gussing 84-64

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Raiffeisen Wels and 6th ranked Gussing Knights had identical 5-4 record. This time Raiffeisen Wels used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Gussing 84-64 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Raiffeisen Wels. Gussing Knights managed to win third quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Gussing Knights 33-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. American point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) fired 19 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners. The other American import forward Maurice Barrow (196, college: Fairfield) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Raiffeisen Wels players scored in double figures. International point guard Thomas Klepeisz (185-91) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Christopher Dunn (189-83, college: W.Virginia St.) added 17 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Raiffeisen Wels (6-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Arkadia. Gussing Knights lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keep the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Oberwart. Raiffeisen Wels will meet higher ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Gussing Knights will play against UBSC Graz and hope to secure a win.
