Everything went according to plan when third ranked Alba Iulia (8-2) beat on the road 10th ranked Satu Mare (3-7) 84-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alba Iulia. Satu Mare managed to win second period 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alba Iulia forced 19 Satu Mare turnovers. American point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) fired 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Jessica Kuster (188-92, college: Rice) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Andreea Orosz (183-86) produced 22 points and American forward Toccara Ross (183-86, college: Iowa St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alba Iulia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Alexandria and Sf.Gheorghe. Loser Satu Mare keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. Alba Iulia will meet at home Rapid (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Satu Mare will play against the league's second-placed Sf.Gheorghe in Sfantu Gheorghe and hope to secure a win.
