Regular Season Round 3: Abdullah Gul - Mersin 83-62

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Mersin (2-1) in Kayseri on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Abdullah Gul (3-0) 83-62. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-62. Abdullah Gul dominated on the defensive end, holding Mersin to just 6 points in fourth quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin's 36. It was a great evening for international LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American Tanisha Wright (180-83, college: Penn St., agency: LBM Management) helped adding 16 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American center Michelle Snow (196-80, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP, agency: Merit Management Group) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Abdullah Gul and four Mersin players scored in double figures. Abdullah Gul is looking forward to face Edirne on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mersin will play against Besiktas and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
