Regular Season Round 8: Marburg - Halle 61-65

Very expected game when 10th ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (2-6) was defeated at home by fourth ranked SV Halle Lions (6-2) 65-61 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tiffany Porter-Talbert (177-84, college: W.Kentucky) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import power forward Mekia Valentine (193-88, college: UCSB) who added 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. SV Halle Lions' coach Jennifer Kerns allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International forward Finja Schaake (179-92) responded with 17 points and American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. SV Halle Lions have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Saarlouis and Herner. BC Pharmaserv Marburg lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. They share it with Chemnitz and Rhein MB. SV Halle Lions will meet at home league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will play against Rhein Main Baskets (#9) in Langen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
