Regular Season Round 7: Mainz - Bamberg 57-70

Very expected game when 5th ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (4-3) was defeated at home by leader Don Bosco Bamberg (7-0) 70-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. Don Bosco Bamberg led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for American guard Jessica Miller (173-88, college: Ill.-Chicago) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Estonian guard Liisi Sokman (166-88) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Don Bosco Bamberg players scored in double figures. Don Bosco Bamberg's coach Steffen Dauer gave the chance to play for all 12 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the losing side guard Maria Neufurth (173-88) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Czech center Gabriela Jandova (190-73) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Don Bosco Bamberg. They maintain first place in South with 7-0 record, which they share with Keltern. Loser ASC Theresianum Mainz keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Don Bosco Bamberg will face TSV Amicitia (#9) in Viernheim in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play on the road against the league's second-placed Gruner Stern Keltern (#2) and hope to win that game.
