There was no surprise in Porto where 9th ranked Academico FC (1-4) was crushed by fourth ranked Boa Viagem (3-2) 68-46 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Boa Viagem. Academico FC was better in third quarter 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Boa Viagem dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Academico FC's 24. They outrebounded Academico FC 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Myneshia McKenzie (183, college: Rider) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized Serbian forward Tatiana Milovac (179) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. International forward Francisca Braga (180-90) produced 14 points and Vanessa Soares added 7 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Academico FC's coach Americo Santos gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Boa Viagem maintains fourth place with 3-2 record, which they share with GDESSA. Newly promoted Academico FC dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Boa Viagem will face Lousada (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Academico FC will play against Uniao Sportiva and hope to win that game.
