The most exciting game of round 8 in the BBL took place in Berlin. This game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Bayern Muenchen (6-2) to top-ranked ALBA Berlin (7-0) 83-80 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bayern Muenchen. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bayern Muenchen won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ALBA Berlin made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game. ALBA Berlin outrebounded Bayern Muenchen 38-27 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Bayern Muenchen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Bosnian forward Nihad Djedovic (197-90, agency: Beo Basket) replied with 18 points and American center John Bryant (208-87, college: Santa Clara) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Bayern Muenchen. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ALBA Berlin have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Defending champion Bayern Muenchen dropped to the third place with two games lost. They share the position with Brose Bask. and Art.Dragons. ALBA Berlin are looking forward to face Phoenix Hagen (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bayern Muenchen will play against the league's second-placed EWE Baskets (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
