Lusitania (1-2) survived in overtime against Ovarense (1-2) by six points 83-77. The game took place in Ovarense. But the guests from Angra were better at the end. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 5-point deficit before their 19-14 run, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-6. Lusitania forced 20 Ovarense turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Ovarense helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) who led the winners and scored 31 points. His fellow American import forward Willis Hall (198-90, college: Charleston, agency: Court Side) accounted for 23 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. The former international point guard Jaime Silva (187-80) came up with 22 points and 4 steals and international point guard Jose Miguel Barbosa (178-90) added 13 points and 7 assists respectively for Ovarense in the defeat. Ovarense's coach Carlos Pinto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lusitania's next round opponent will be Oliveirense (#6) in Oliveira.
