Regular Season Round 7: Itzehoe - Leipzig 88-75

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed USC Leipzig (5-4) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Itzehoe (5-3) 88-75 on Sunday. Itzehoe dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to USC Leipzig's 34. USC Leipzig was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American swingman Jonathon Williams (198-90, college: Wagner) fired 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Naturalized Greek guard Kosta Karamatskos (195-86) chipped in 10 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Itzehoe players scored in double figures. point guard Falko Theilig (180-92) produced 19 points and 6 assists and American center Khalil Kelley (203-91, college: Pacific) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. USC Leipzig's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Itzehoe. They moved-up to fourth place in Group North. USC Leipzig at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Itzehoe will face Sixers (#11) in Sandersdorf in the next round and are hoping to win another game. USC Leipzig will play on the road against Titans (#13) in Dresden and hope to win that game.
