Regular Season Round 7: Osnabruck - Hagen Phoenix 72-64

2.Bundesliga top team - Osnabruck (6-1) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat ninth ranked Hagen Phoenix (2-5) 72-64. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hagen Phoenix won third quarter 22-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osnabruck dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hagen Phoenix's 28. They outrebounded Hagen Phoenix 42-29 including a 24-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American point guard Angela Pace (178-87, college: Robert Morris) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Alysa Horn (182-90, college: Alaska-Anch.) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. Osnabruck's coach Christian Kaiser let to play all 12 players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side point guard Sophia Muecke (168-90) responded with 21 points and forward Leonie Schuetter (177-98) scored 16 points. The victory was the third consecutive win for Osnabruck. They maintain first place in North with 6-1 record. Loser Hagen Phoenix keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Osnabruck will face Braunschweig (#5) on the road in the next round. Hagen Phoenix will play against Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (#3) and hope to win that game.
