Very expected game when 18th ranked Mersin (1-6) was smashed by fourth ranked Denizli (5-2) in Pamukkale 84-61 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-61. Denizli dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin's 24. It was a very good performance for American Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Osiris Eldridge (191-88, college: Illinois St.) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Tibet Ilhan (-94) answered with 8 points and 8 rebounds and guard Ihsan Yalcin Azizmahmutogullari (188-82) added 11 points in the effort for Mersin. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Denizli. They maintain fourth place with 5-1 record. Mersin lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Denizli will have a break next round. Mersin will play at home against Gelisim (#10) and hope to win that game.
