Regular Season Round 8: Bochum - Rist Wedel 73-62

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked SC Rist Wedel (7-2) in Bochum on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked AstroStars (5-4) 73-62. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of SC Rist Wedel. American guard Jimmy Sherburne (191-91, college: Princeton) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 assists. Center Michael Haucke (210-85) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Sherburne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Denzell Erves (202-91, college: Xavier, LA) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for SC Rist Wedel. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AstroStars moved-up to fifth place in Group North. SC Rist Wedel at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Rostock EBC. AstroStars are looking forward to face Oldenburg (#11) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. SC Rist Wedel will play against Hertener Loewen (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
