Regular Season Round 8: Schwelm - Saarlouis 87-79

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Saarlouis (2-6) lost on the road to third ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (6-2) 87-79 on Saturday. SG Schwelmer Baskets made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Canadian swingman Chris Johnson (196-88, college: St.Bonaventure) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. American swingman Jody Johnson (193-88, college: Cent.Washington) contributed with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Five SG Schwelmer Baskets players scored in double figures. American guard Ricky Easterling (188-83, college: Bridgewater) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists and his fellow American import Karl Moore (203-87, college: Culver Stockton, agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 19 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Saarlouis. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. SG Schwelmer Baskets have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group South, which they share with Wuerzburg. Saarlouis lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. SG Schwelmer Baskets will face Speyer (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Saarlouis will play against White Wings and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
