NBL top team - Lukoil Acad. (5-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Beroe (3-3) in Sofia 72-65. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But Beroe won second period 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lukoil Acad. players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Beroe's players. American forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) notched 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and Croatian center Bruno Sundov (221-80) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Even 22 points by American guard Mike Black (183-90, college: Albany) did not help to save the game for Beroe. His fellow American import forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St.) added 9 points and 8 rebounds. Lukoil Acad. have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Beroe at the other side dropped to the sixth place with three games lost. Lukoil Acad.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sofia to the arena Levski Sofia.
