Regular Season Round 9: TBB Trier - Bayreuth 78-75

There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked TBB Trier (3-6) edged at home higher ranked BBC Bayreuth (4-5) 78-75 on Saturday. BBC Bayreuth was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 24-19 charge of TBB Trier, which allowed them to win the game. American guard Ricky Harris (187-87, college: Massachusetts) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and Zimbabwean power forward Vitalis Chikoko (207-91, agency: LUMANI 10.7) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four TBB Trier players scored in double figures. TBB Trier's coach Henrik Roedl used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American-Puerto Rican point guard TreVon Hughes (184-87, college: Wisconsin) with 14 points and 6 assists and American forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. TBB Trier moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Braunschweig. Loser BBC Bayreuth dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. TBB Trier will face higher ranked Telekom Baskets (#8) in Bonn in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
