Regular Season Round 9: DniproAzot - Mykolaiv 67-73

No shocking result in a game in Dniprodzerzhynsk where fifth ranked Mykolaiv (5-3) defeated 10th ranked DniproAzot (1-7) 73-67 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But DniproAzot won third quarter 26-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mykolaiv made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. DniproAzot was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard David Downs (188, college: Seattle Pacific, agency: Two Points) who scored 26 points. Center Oleksandr Kushnirov (208-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Eugene Harris (188-86, college: High Point, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who recorded 23 points and point guard Ernesto Tkachuk (189-94, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 10 points and 10 assists respectively. Mykolaiv moved-up to third place, which they share with Dnipro and Cherkasy. DniproAzot lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with seven games lost. Mykolaiv will face league's second-placed Budivelnyk in Kyiv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. DniproAzot will play on the road against Halychyna (#11) in Lviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
