Important game to mention about took place in Vilnius. Seventh ranked P.Zvaigzdes (5-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging much higher ranked Lietuvos rytas (9-2) 87-85 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lietuvos rytas. Lietuvos rytas was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 30-22 charge of P.Zvaigzdes, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-28 charity shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Lietuvos rytas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Osvaldas Olisevicius (200-93) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) chipped in 13 points and 5 assists. At the losing side the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79) responded with 17 points and swingman Gediminas Orelikas (200-90) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for P.Zvaigzdes. They maintain seventh place with 5-6 record. Lietuvos rytas at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. P.Zvaigzdes will play against higher ranked Juventus (#4) in Utena in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lietuvos rytas will play at home against Dzukija and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
