Regular Season Round 9: Halle - Wasserburg 48-67

An interesting game for TSV 1880 Wasserburg (9-0) which played road game in Halle against 4th placed SV Halle Lions (6-3). Leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg had an easy win 67-48. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of SV Halle Lions. The game was mostly controlled by TSV 1880 Wasserburg. SV Halle Lions managed to win second period 16-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding SV Halle Lions to just 5 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded SV Halle Lions 37-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American Emma Cannon (187-89, college: Cent.Florida) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Slovakian center Anna Jurcenkova (195-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four TSV 1880 Wasserburg players scored in double figures. TSV 1880 Wasserburg's coach Bastian Wernthaler used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Noemie Rouault (180-95) answered with 9 points and 11 rebounds and forward Laura Hebecker (181-93) added 16 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for SV Halle Lions. TSV 1880 Wasserburg have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-0 record. SV Halle Lions at the other side keep the fourth position with three games lost. TSV 1880 Wasserburg are looking forward to face Rhein Main Baskets (#10) in Langen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SV Halle Lions will play on the road against Bad Aibling (#12) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
