Regular Season Round 9: Rhein MB - Marburg 48-50

A very interesting game took place in Langen. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 10th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (2-7) to ninth ranked BC Pharmaserv Marburg (3-6) 50-48 in the game for the ninth place. BC Pharmaserv Marburg dominated on the defensive end, holding Rhein Main Baskets to just 6 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was American swingman Alissa Pierce (177-86) who scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. The former international Birte Thimm (180-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's coach Patrick Unger allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was center Francis Pieczynski (186-89) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Svenja Greunke (188-89) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. BC Pharmaserv Marburg maintains ninth place with 3-6 record. Rhein Main Baskets at the other side keep the tenth position with seven games lost. BC Pharmaserv Marburg's next round opponent will be ChemCats Chemnitz (#11) on the road. Rhein Main Baskets will play against the league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
