Regular Season Round 6: Balkan - Cherno More 96-78

The most important game in the last round took place in Botevgrad between third ranked Cherno More (3-2) and fourth ranked Balkan (4-2) on Sunday night. Cherno More was defeated by Balkan on the road 96-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cherno More. The game was mostly controlled by Balkan. Cherno More managed to win fourth quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Balkan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Montenegrin center Vukota Pavic (203-93, agency: Beo Basket) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian center Nenad Sulovic (202-85, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 8 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Balkan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Stanislav Slaveykov (198-86) with 24 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) and the former international point guard Asen Velikov (187-86) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Balkan moved-up to third place. Cherno More at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Rilski. Balkan are looking forward to face Yambol (#7) on the road in the next round. Cherno More will play against Rilski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
