Regular Season Round 4: Guifoes - Atletico 54-82

Atletico can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Guifoes, where they outplayed Guifoes (1-2) 82-54. The game was mostly controlled by Atletico. Guifoes was better in fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atletico dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Guifoes' 28. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Jorge Afonso (192-79) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Hugo Aurelio (-80) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Atletico players scored in double figures. Angolan forward Joao Gaspar (196-89) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and forward Fabio Fernandes (201-86) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Guifoes. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atletico (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Vasco. Guifoes at the other side keep the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Academia. Atletico will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guifoes will play on the road against the league's leader FC Porto Ferpinta (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
