Regular Season Round 13: Zalgiris - Tonybet 87-58

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Zalgiris as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Zalgiris smashed 8th ranked Tonybet in Kaunas 87-58. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. Tonybet managed to win fourth quarter 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Arturas Gudaitis (208-93) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Paulius Jankunas (203-84) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Zalgiris' coach Gintaras Krapikas felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Ovidijus Varanauskas (187-91) answered with 16 points and 4 assists and forward Arnas Labuckas (203-87) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tonybet. Zalgiris (10-1) have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Tonybet lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Tonybet will play next round against Nevezis trying to get back on the winning streak. Zalgiris will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Mazeikiai at home.
