There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Titans (3-6) beat higher ranked USC Leipzig (5-5) in Dresden 86-76 on Tuesday. American Damon Smith (200-88, college: Mary) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 9 rebounds. Naturalized Israeli guard Guy Aud (188-89) contributed with 16 points and 6 assists for the winners. Aud is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Titans' coach Thomas Krzywinski used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Joern Wessels (205-91) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and American center Khalil Kelley (203-91, college: Pacific) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for USC Leipzig. Five Titans and four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. Titans moved-up to tenth place in Group North, which they share with Oldenburg. USC Leipzig lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. Titans will face higher ranked Recklinghausen (#9) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
