Regular Season Round 9: Randers - Svendborg 92-95

The most shocking disappointment of round 9 in the Ligaen was only three-point a home defeat of 4th placed Randers (5-4) to fifth ranked Svendborg (6-3) 95-92. It ended the three-game winning streak of Randers. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Randers won third quarter 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Svendborg made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Argentinian-Italian point guard Antonio Porta (187-83, agency: Players Group) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 assists for the winners and American center William Paul (208-88, college: Arkansas Tech) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American-Belizean point guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Five Svendborg and four Randers players scored in double figures. Svendborg moved-up to third place, which they share with Wolfpack. Randers at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with SISU. Svendborg is looking forward to face SISU (#6) in Copenhagen in the next round. Randers will play on the road against the league's leader Bakken in Aarhus and are hoping to win this game.
