Regular Season Round 9: Aistes-LSU - Ruta-Univ. 78-42

Bottom-ranked Ruta-Univ. is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to fourth ranked Aistes-LSU (6-3) 78-42 on Friday evening. The game without a history. Aistes-LSU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ruta-Univ. to just 7 points in second quarter. Aistes-LSU held Ruta-Univ. to an opponent 22.2 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Aistes-LSU forced 23 Ruta-Univ. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Ruta-Univ.'s players. International power forward Laura Svaryte (190-92) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Neringa Skadaite (179-92) accounted for 15 points and 4 assists. Five Aistes-LSU players scored in double figures. Belarusian guard Krystsina Turomsha (168-92) came up with 12 points and 5 steals and forward Silvija Kuodiene (180-81) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Ruta-Univ. in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aistes-LSU. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Kibirkstis-VICI and Suduva. Ruta-Univ. lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Aistes-LSU will meet at home league's leader Utena in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ruta-Univ. will play against the league's second-placed Suduva (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
