Regular Season Round 13: Brasov - Alexandria 89-76

The most shocking disappointment of round 13 in the Liga Nationala was a road defeat of 4th placed Alexandria (9-4) to eighth ranked Brasov (7-5) 89-76. Brasov outrebounded Alexandria 48-36 including 36 on the defensive glass. American guard Britney Jones (172-87, college: UAB) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 assists (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winners and the former international Sonia Ursu (175-93) chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Brasov's coach Daniel Calancea used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Morgan Stroman (185-91, college: Miami, FL, agency: Merit Management Group) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Alina Chivu (176-90) scored 26 points and 5 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Brasov moved-up to seventh place. Alexandria at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Brasov are looking forward to face Oradea (#11) in Oradea in the next round. Alexandria will play at home against Cluj Napoca (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
