Regular Season Round 9: Rist Wedel - Hertener Loewen 72-73

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked SC Rist Wedel (7-3) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by thirteenth ranked Hertener Loewen (3-6) 73-72. American point guard Deshaun Cooper (173-91, college: NW Missouri St.) stepped up and scored 26 points for the winners and swingman Lars Meyer (189-89) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Denzell Erves (202-91, college: Xavier, LA) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and swingman Janis Stielow (193-95) scored 22 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hertener Loewen moved-up to eleventh place in Group North. SC Rist Wedel at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Itzehoe and Rostock EBC. Hertener Loewen are looking forward to face higher ranked Oldenburg (#10) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SC Rist Wedel will play against DRUFF! (#4) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
