Regular Season Round 11: ETB Wohnbau - Kirchheim 76-87

There was an upset when second-ranked ETB Wohnbau (8-3) lost to ninth ranked Kirchheim Knights (6-5) in Essen 76-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kirchheim Knights. ETB Wohnbau was better in fourth quarter 24-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kirchheim Knights made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Point guard Bryan Smithson (183-85, college: NC-Asheville) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Benjamin Beran (201-84, college: S.Dakota St.) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. point guard Chris Alexander (186-83, college: Southern) answered with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Thomas Baudinet (190-89, college: St.Anselm) added 16 points in the effort for ETB Wohnbau. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ETB Wohnbau's coach Igor Krizanovic let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kirchheim Knights moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser ETB Wohnbau keeps the second position with three games lost. Kirchheim Knights will face Bayer Giants (#14) in Leverkusen in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ETB Wohnbau will play on the road against Cuxhaven BasCats (#15) and hope to win that game.
