Regular Season Round 5: Ormanspor - Fenerbahce 55-81

Very expected game when 12th ranked Ormanspor (1-4) was smashed by leader Fenerbahce (5-0) in Ankara 81-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Fenerbahce. Ormanspor was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Ormanspor's 34. They outrebounded Ormanspor 51-33 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Senegalese-Spanish center Astou Ndour (198-94, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. The former international forward Tugce Canitez (187-90, college: Westmont) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Fenerbahce's coach Jacek Winnicki felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Montenegrin Ana Dabovic (183-89) answered with 27 points and American center Kara Braxton (198-83, college: Georgia) added 6 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Ormanspor. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Fenerbahce. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Galatasaray and Abdullah Gul. Newly promoted Ormanspor keeps the twelfth place with four games lost. Fenerbahce will face Canik Bld (#11) in Samsun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ormanspor will play on the road against Adana ASKI in Mersin and hope to win that game.
